WesTex Federal Credit Union was happy to pay it forward in two ways during February – the month of love! We had the opportunity to give to The Alzheimer’s Association West Texas Chapter’s Love Conquers Alz Campaign. The money raised was used to have valentines delivered to those living with dementia, it was such a special way to show individuals in our elderly community that we genuinely care for them! We also had a great time providing a special Valentine’s Day party for the residents of Whisperwood Nursing Home. Sisters, Gina Stockman and Ginger Cheney lovingly nominated the facility noting that some individuals don’t have regular family visitors and pointing out that the nursing staff have worked so hard thru some difficult times, lately. That opened the door for us to provide some sweets and treats for the residents, including some blankets, socks, activity books and craft supplies. For the nurses, we provided a full basket of delicious snacks, energy drinks, hand lotion, chapstick and hand sanitizers. What a blessing it was for us to be honored with the privilege of delivering these items to them!
We encourage everyone to take a look at the Alzheimer’s Association when selecting a nonprofit organization to give to. This organization does so much for individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s and they also provide resources, and education for caretakers. They are still raising funds for The Longest Day and you can donate here: https://act.alz.org/
Also, please take a moment or two to hop onto the WesTex website and nominate someone to receive Pay it Forward. We’re looking for groups, organizations or individuals within the Lubbock and Hale County communities that we can positively impact! Nominate someone here: Pay It Forward Nomination
